The Roger Tanner Trust has gifted a grant to Emmaus Mossley to help us fund a new, more energy-efficient van.
Emmaus Mossley supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities. The Roger Tanner Trust awarded a grant towards the purchase of a new collection and delivery van to support our social enterprise.
Kevin Sanders, Trustee at The Roger Tanner Trust, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Emmaus Mossley and recognise the fantastic work they do within our community. The passion of their staff permeates the whole organisation.
“The thing that came across most to us was the things going on behind the scenes at Emmaus. Everyone sees the retail element, but it was great to see and understand the support on offer and the difference it makes to the people who live there.”
The Roger Tanner Trust, established by community champion Roger Tanner, supports local community-based organisations and charities in Saddleworth and the surrounding areas. The Trust awards grants in support of education, training, culture, heritage, arts, sports and recreation.
The grant from The Roger Tanner Trust has been put towards the purchase of a new, more energy-efficient van. Emmaus Mossley runs a large Secondhand Superstore and all of the income we raise is used to sustain our residential community and the support given to people who live there.
Alison Hill, Chief Executive Officer at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We are very grateful to The Roger Tanner Trust for their kind support which has enabled us to invest in a new van. This vehicle is an essential part of our social enterprise, collecting donations and delivering items from our Secondhand Superstore.”
The Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore offers an eclectic mix of items including furniture, fashion, books, music and bric-a-brac alongside handmade and upcycled items. All items purchased from our store pay for food, energy costs, tailored support and training, helping people on the journey away from homelessness.
