Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds has revisited Emmaus Mossley to meet with our community members and discuss key issues.
On Friday 18 October, Jonathan Reynolds MP, toured our residential community – home to 26 people – and our large Secondhand Superstore. Emmaus Mossley supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities.
As well as meeting with the charity’s staff and local volunteers, Jonathan met with our companions to hear first-hand about their experiences at Emmaus and overcoming homelessness.
Jonathan commented: “Emmaus Mossley is one of my favourite places to visit and both the charity and their Secondhand Superstore continues to go from strength to strength. The spirit of community, compassion and togetherness is palpable and there for everyone to see.”
“I have supported and visited Emmaus over many years and would like to congratulate all companions, volunteers and staff for continuing to develop and create, what is, a wonderful asset within Mossley, Tameside and the Greater Manchester city region.”
Meeting companions and volunteers
Jonathan was given a tour of our community and Secondhand Superstore by Emmaus companion Darren. All income raised from the Superstore is used to sustain our community and the support given to people who live here.
Darren said: “It was an honour to welcome Jonathan back to our community and give him a tour to show what improvements we’ve made since he was last here. Jonathan was very interested in different aspects of our charity and we’re all grateful for the visit and his kind support.”
