Are you skilled and experienced in joinery, woodwork and building maintenance? Do you have some time spare each week to help carry out odd jobs at our charity? Here at Emmaus Merseyside we are looking for a positive individual to volunteer within our community home and garden. We need your time, talent and skills to help continue the upkeep and development of our spaces and grounds.

Main duties

  • To carry out woodwork and joinery
  • To assist with building maintenance
  • To problem solve within our home and garden
  • To reuse and make use of the materials we have
  • To help train and develop others

Skills required:

  • Joinery and woodwork
  • Experience using powered tools
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • An eye for detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good people skills and experience within a team
  • Respect for the organisation’s policies
  • A willingness to participate in relevant and appropriate training in order to carry out the duties required of the role

Time commitment:

We are looking for a volunteer that will commit to at least 6 hours per week. We can be flexible in terms of what day(s) these will be.

Training, support and benefits:

  • As an Emmaus volunteer you will be given a full induction when you start.
  • A staff member will support you throughout your time as a volunteer.
  • We will offer you an opportunity to develop your skills and experience for a worthwhile cause.
  • We will look to provide further training where possible.
  • We will provide you with dinner and travel expenses on the days that you volunteer.
