Are you a coffee or cake enthusiast? Do you have previous experience as a baker, barista or working in hospitality? Here at Emmaus Merseyside, we are looking for positive individuals with great people skills to get involved at our new Hub & Coffee Shop. We need your time, talent and skills to support our team in preparing and serving delicious cakes, food and drinks.

 

Main duties

  • Assist in the day-to-day running of The Hub & Coffee Shop
  • Customer service – providing a service of the highest standard
  • Working alongside others in food preparation, baking, as a barista, and helping with community events
  • Help to ensure our premises are clean and tidy, in line with agreed standards
  • Promote public understanding of the work of Emmaus Merseyside.

Skills required

  • Ability to operate as a team member
  • Flexible attitude to types of jobs required within the role
  • Respect for the organisation’s policies
  • A willingness to participate in relevant and appropriate training
  • Knowledge and awareness of good food hygiene practices
  • Previous experience in the catering industry or barista work is desirable
  • A pleasant manner and the ability to deal with the public at a face-to-face level
  • Reliability, and an ability to cope in a fast-paced, busy working environment.

Time commitment

We are looking for a volunteer who will commit to at least 4 hours per week. We can be flexible in terms of what day(s) these will be.

Training, support and benefits

  • As an Emmaus volunteer, you will be given a full induction when you start, including food hygiene certifications level 1 and 2, in-depth coffee training and pastry tuition.
  • A staff member will support you throughout your time as a volunteer.
  • We will offer you an opportunity to develop your skills and experience for a worthwhile cause.
  • We will look to provide further training where possible.
  • We will provide you with dinner and travel expenses on the days that you volunteer.
