CLOSING DATE: Ongoing LOCATION: Emmaus Merseyside TYPE: Voluntary

We are an ambitious and forward-thinking team at Emmaus Merseyside who are looking to expand and bring on board some new skilled and experienced people to join our Board of Trustees. If you have a passion for making a difference and have some time to assist a local homelessness charity, please have a look at this exciting Trustee opportunity with Emmaus Merseyside.

Based in the Seaforth area of Merseyside, we have a great mix of experience on the current Board of Trustees. We provide innovative approaches and ideas to continue developing our charity,  maintaining a stable business plan and developing successful future growth areas and projects.

Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference

Emmaus Merseyside provides help to people experiencing homelessness by offering a home, work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to gain skills, confidence and training. We have an accommodation facility in Seaforth and three social enterprises in the local area as well as a new horticultural project at our on-site community garden.

Companions, the name given to the people we support, are provided with individual support, training and development to enable them to gain valuable experience, new skills and confidence to move forward positively in their lives. We don’t just provide a bed, we provide a reason to get out of it too. Central to our ethos is the rebuilding of self-esteem, confidence, and skills through engagement in purposeful work and positive community activities.

What does a Board of Trustees do?

The purpose of our Board is to provide sound governance to the Emmaus Merseyside charity. This includes agreeing strategic direction, approving and reviewing policies and procedures, appointing executive staff and ensuring compliance with the objectives, purposes and values of our organisation, and with its governing document. Learn more about the role of trustees.

Trustees meet regularly as a board and individual trustees may also get involved in other ways, as their time permits. We provide full induction training and offer reimbursements for travel expenses.
