Emmaus Merseyside has benefited from some extra help in our community garden thanks to a charity partnership with Victorian Plumbing.
On four days during June and July, a total of ten Victorian Plumbing staff teamed up to give their support and help with a range of gardening activities. Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness.
Small groups of staff from the online bathroom retailer worked alongside our local volunteers, staff and companions within the garden. The teams helped to tidy, weed and tend to plants and produce, harvest strawberries and garlic, and build new raised planters.
Victorian Plumbing is the UK’s largest bathroom retailer of branded and in-house designed bathrooms and accessories. The volunteer days at Emmaus Merseyside are part of a national charity partnership between Victorian Plumbing and Emmaus UK. The Merseyside-based company is gifting a range of support to Emmaus communities and groups across the UK.
Isheshe Jimawo, Horticultural Supervisor at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “The planters made by the Victorian Plumbing volunteers were a true community effort, with each group contributing by building, painting, decorating and finally filling them with beautiful flowers. We are so very grateful for the hard work and support from the groups of staff who joined us and to Victorian Plumbing for their continued kind support.”
