Runcorn-based Nanoco Technologies Limited has pledged a year of support to homelessness charity Emmaus Merseyside, starting with a three peaks challenge fundraiser.

Staff from Nanoco’s headquarters are teaming up to hike Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon in 24 hours during October to raise funds for Emmaus Merseyside. The award-winning charity provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness.

Liam Gray, CFO of Nanoco, commented: “We all have a social responsibility to look after each other. At Nanoco, we are proud to partner with Emmaus, a local charity making a positive impact in our community by providing accommodation and services to people who are homeless in the region. We are looking forward to raising awareness and funds together in the coming year, with the 3 peaks challenge one of the fundraising opportunities in the pipeline.”

Nanoco is the market leader in the research, development, licensing and large-scale manufacture of novel nanomaterials for use in various commercial applications. The global business has its headquarters in Runcorn, where its research, development and manufacturing activities are also based.

The charity of the year partnership with Emmaus Merseyside is a step forward in Nanoco’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Nanoco first heard about Emmaus through one of their own colleagues, who has been very involved with another Emmaus community. Emmaus communities provide people with training, work opportunities, and the chance to regain their stability and self-sufficiency to build a better future.

A partnership of positive change

As well as the three peaks challenge, Nanoco staff will be volunteering within Emmaus Merseyside’s residential community and Charity Superstore. Nanoco staff are also opting-in to a workplace donation scheme, gifting some of their monthly wages as charitable donations to Emmaus.

Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “Everyone at Emmaus Merseyside is incredibly grateful for the generous support offered by Nanoco. Their commitment to our cause will directly help people on their journey away from homelessness and towards better lives. This partnership is a testament to the power of businesses in driving positive change and making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.”

Emmaus Merseyside’s purpose-built residential community home includes 28 en-suite bedrooms with a communal kitchen, dining room, gym, games room, cinema room, and large community garden. While at Emmaus, people are given the opportunity for a fresh start, gaining skills and work experience alongside training and personal development.
