Emmaus Merseyside has benefitted from a huge donation of hand sanitiser and personal protective equipment (PPE) from gas specialists, Blended Products.
On Monday 10 May, we received a delivery of 34,000 face coverings and 13,000 bottles of hand sanitiser donated by Blended Products Limited. Given the size of the donation, we decided to share out the boxes with other local groups, schools and charities in need.
Lincolnshire-based Blended Products supply specialist chemicals and gases throughout the UK and Europe. The delivery to Emmaus Merseyside was part of 82,000 face coverings and 27,000 hand sanitisers donated to Emmaus communities across the UK.
Simon Barker, Commercial Director at Blended Products Limited, said: “Blended was delighted to be able to help this amazing charity. We work with companies and suppliers all over the world so when we had the chance to source PPE, and could then connect with Emmaus, it was fantastic to know we could play a small part in helping to protect their companions, volunteers and communities across the UK.”
Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. Our companions – the people we support – work alongside local volunteers in the Emmaus Merseyside Charity Superstore which recently reopened following the national lockdown.
Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “On behalf of everyone at Emmaus Merseyside I’d like to give huge thanks to Simon and the team at Blended Products for this very generous donation.
“When the big Blended Products lorry arrived and we started to unload the boxes, we realised there was more than enough items for our community to use. We then put the call out to other local groups and charities and were pleased to be able to share them out amongst our local contacts and organisations in need.”
Emmaus Merseyside has shared the items with a number of organisations including Bosco Society Ltd, Emmaus Burnley, Emmaus Preston, FRC Group, Nugent Care and two local primary schools in Sefton.
