As with many charities, Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland success relies on the support of local people including those who volunteer as trustees. Trustees play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to support and steer the direction of our charity.

We’d like to say a big end-of-year thank you to all our trustees, with special appreciation going to Heather White and Sarah Carter, who recently retired.

Speaking about her time with us, Heather (pictured third from left) said:

“My time as an Emmaus trustee has been rewarding as well as challenging and enlightening. I have served on the Board of Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland for nearly six years now. I have seen the organisation grow and expand in its social enterprise and its support services. Hearing the stories of our companions has been both inspiring and humbling. I would encourage anyone who wants to improve the lives of others to give a little time to either volunteer or, if they feel able, to join with like-minded people to share their expertise (whatever it may be) and support this most worthwhile and deserving organisation.”

Sarah (pictured second from left) also reflected on her experiences as a trustee:

“I have greatly enjoyed my time as an Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland trustee. As well as the satisfaction of being able to use my work skills to help shape the direction of a fantastic charity, I had the opportunity to get involved in new experiences with a great group of people. A highlight being meeting Terry Waite (president of Emmaus UK) and getting to speak with him.”
