Big thanks to a team of Leicestershire surveyors who, along with their children, have raised over £700 by completing the Loughborough Santa Fun Run in aid of Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland.

Each year the group, who are members of the Leicestershire Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), dust off their Santa outfits to complete the 5km course for a different local charity. This December they kindly chose to raise funds for our homelessness charity.

Speaking about the event, team member Rajesh Gohil said: “The Santa Fun Run is a great community event where over 1000 Santas gather and raise awareness and funds for their chosen charities. This year was the first time I participated with my four year old son Aavi, so was a lovely experience for him. As usual the event was well organised and fun along the way, with all ages – serious runners and well paced walkers – and even dogs participating.

“We all had a lovely family day out and raised funds for Emmaus. The team morale was great and we intend to run again next year too. As we all work in the property sector we aim to help fight homelessness. This is just a little effort but more needs to be done.”

Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland provides a home, support and meaningful work to 16 formerly homeless individuals. Some stay for a while as they gain confidence and skills before they feel ready to move on to independent living; others are in need of longer-term support and are able to stay for as long as they need to.
