Liz Kendall MP recently cut the ribbon to officially open the outreach office for Brighter Futures, our Leicester service offering free support to help people into employment and training.

The service takes a holistic approach to supporting people experiencing barriers to paid employment. Our team of Brighter Futures Community Coaches based at the outreach office offer help with employability skills such as CVs, interview preparation and training alongside support to overcome other potential barriers to employment including housing, debt, health and confidence issues.

Brighter Futures is funded by the European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund.

Speaking about Brighter Futures, Liz Kendall MP for Leicester West said:
I was extremely proud to open the new outreach office on Hinckley Road. Emmaus is a fantastic charity that is providing vital help and support to local people who have been homeless so that they can start to rebuild their lives and get back on their feet. Now through the launch of the Brighter Futures project, they will be able to help even more people here in Leicester who have found themselves socially excluded or homeless and in need of help and support to get back into employment.”

Also in attendance at the event were local people being supported by the service, alongside Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland staff and trustees.

Nana Adoma-Mensah from Leicester is currently being supported by Brighter Futures. Having been unemployed for the last six months following problems with finding suitable, sustainable employment, she is now being helped to set up her own business:

“I’ve dreamed of having my own business for a long time and with the help from my Brighter Futures Community Coach I’m now working on opening an African grocery store”.

Brighter Futures Community Coach Supervisor Linda Farmer said:
We’re here to provide support to anyone who wants to make positive changes in their lives and move towards employment or education. It’s been brilliant to watch people like Nana growing in confidence and move towards their goals, making life changes that will enable them to improve their lives”.

The service is open to residents of Leicester and surrounding areas including Hinckley and Coalville. Anyone wishing to access free support or find out more, can drop into the Brighter Futures Outreach Office at 67B Hinckley Road in Leicester; the office is open 11am – 5pm every Monday and 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday.
