As temperatures rise, people sleeping rough face greater risks such as dehydration, heat exhaustion and sunburn. It can be difficult to access water, shade or appropriate clothing when living on the streets.
There are simple ways you can help:
- Provide bottled water
- Donate summer clothing like hats, lightweight t-shirts and loose layers
- Share sunscreen
- Offer fresh fruit and other foods with high water content
- If someone appears to be in urgent danger, call 999 immediately
- If you’re concerned about someone sleeping rough, report it to StreetLink at www.thestreetlink.org.uk
Small acts of kindness can have a big impact during the warmer months.
