Van Appeal: Help us buy a new charity van

Our van is the lifeblood of our Hinckley-based homelessness charity, but after more than 10 years it’s spending more time in the garage than on the road. Every donation helps us keep changing lives in Hinckley and beyond.

We’re delighted to share that Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland was one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Ragdale Hall Community Chest.

The  recent annual presentation event, hosted by the award-winning Ragdale Hall Spa, saw £10,000 distributed to local community groups, charities, sports clubs, and schools.

This worthy scheme has been running for 16 years and has donated a £160,000 to various worthy causes.

Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland received a generous £500 to fund a small wellbeing allowance for our companions (the people our homelessness charity supports). This allowance helps individuals cover personal expenses such as haircuts, phone top-ups, getting active, and other hobbies and interests, keeping them connected with others and supporting their general health and wellbeing.

Our charity Director Dawn and our Retail & Premises Assistant Ade represented Emmaus at the event. The evening was hosted by Ragdale Hall Spa managing director, Hugh Wilson, and cheques were presented by co-owner, Michael Issacs. The photo above shows the moment Dawn and Ade received this kind donation (photo © Adam Shaw).

We’re incredibly grateful for this support from Ragdale Hall; it means a lot to us when local businesses reach out like this, to help out in their local area.
