We were recently pleased to welcome Dr Luke Evans, Member of Parliament for Hinckley and Bosworth, for a visit.
Dr Evans, who has represented our area since 2019, spent time with us discussing the unique Emmaus model. We told him about our Hinckley-based charity, which offers accommodation, personalised support, training, and work opportunities for up to 16 people. His visit provided an opportunity to share our work in the local community and discuss wider issues surrounding homelessness.
During his time with us, Dr Evans spoke with individuals we’re currently supporting, hearing directly from them about their experiences and the impact Emmaus has had on helping them rebuild their lives.
At Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland, each resident has their own room in our community home in Hinckley, where living expenses and meals are fully covered, allowing them to focus on recovery and personal development for as long as they need.
Dr Evans also toured our Emporium shop on Stockwell Head, where donated furniture, clothing, and household items are sold to raise essential funds for our work.
Following his visit, Dr Evans commented, “I’m hugely grateful to the team at Emmaus for welcoming me to their Emporium on Stockwell Head in Hinckley to learn more about their work in our area. It was great to meet some of the volunteers and hear about what it means to them to work with Emmaus and be part of the community that the team has created in Hinckley. The Emmaus Emporium is a treasure trove in the centre of Hinckley, brimming with furniture, clothes and books – do stop by and support them the next time you’re in the area!”
We’re grateful for the support of our local MP as we continue our mission to make a difference in the community.
