Van Appeal: Help us buy a new charity van

Our van is the lifeblood of our Hinckley-based homelessness charity, but after more than 10 years it’s spending more time in the garage than on the road. Every donation helps us keep changing lives in Hinckley and beyond.

At Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland, we’re always excited to find new ways to highlight the importance of reuse.

Recently, fashion students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) showcased their work at the annual creative arts show at the college’s Hinckley Campus. We are particularly proud to have played a part in this creative journey by donating preloved denim clothing for the project.

Our Director, Dawn Wright, attended the catwalk event, which was the highlight of a two-week series of activities marking the end of the academic year.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive of NWSLC, acknowledged our contribution, saying, “Special thanks are due to Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland, who donated the denim clothing that forms the basis of the Year 1 fashion project ‘Concrete City’.”

This is the second year in a row that college students have upcycled items from our Emporium charity shop for their fashion show, showcasing just how important reuse is.

Congratulations to all the students on their fantastic achievements!
