We’re working together to end homelessness; could you work with us? Emmaus is a non-religious, worldwide social enterprise movement that exists to fight poverty, homelessness and other forms of social exclusion. Emmaus Communities provide a home and work experience for previously homeless adults who are called Companions.
Emmaus Leeds is a different kind of charity because those we support form part of the team that delivers our retail operation. We provide a home and meaningful activity to 29 adults who have experienced homelessness, offering them stable accommodation and an opportunity to find a route back to independent living.
We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who can manage our Community, to help us empower and enable Companions to move forward with their lives.
We require a good team player and communicator who can work effectively under pressure. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Community, and line-management of the dedicated support team. You will have effective interpersonal skills as well as strong administration and time management skills, and the personal resilience to work with a challenging client group.
You will also have a good grasp of homelessness issues, both local and nationally. You will be able to foster new, or develop existing, contacts throughout the sector to facilitate bringing in new Companions and keeping the community full where possible. Support networks are also crucial to enable external signposting for Companions.
We will be paying £30,000 per year, with annual reviews, plus a generous pension package and 25 days annual leave. You will work 37.5 hours per week, usually Monday to Friday with occasional cover for Saturdays. Your team also provides 24-hour on-call cover on a rota basis for evenings and weekends.
This is an exciting opportunity with potential for further advancement. If you think you have what it takes to succeed in this role, we want to hear from you.
