This Trustees’ Week, 4 – 9 November 2019, we are appealing for new people to join our Emmaus Leeds board of trustees.

Trustees play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to oversee and make important decisions about a charity’s work. Emmaus Leeds is looking for new trustees with expertise and experience of the third-sector, safeguarding adults, property management, housing or general business management.

Glenn Miller, Chair of Trustees at Emmaus Leeds, said: “The role of a trustee is a very rewarding opportunity, both in terms of helping the charity to make a positive impact and the individual experience gained.

“Emmaus Leeds currently has nine trustees that work together to oversee governance and shape strategic goals so that the charity can help as many homeless people as possible. This Trustees’ Week we are looking for new charity trustees with skills that complement those already on the board at Emmaus Leeds.”

Emmaus Leeds supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home and work in its social enterprise. The charity has its main community building and social enterprise on St Mary’s Street, a stall at Kirkgate Market and a charity shop in Halton.

Trustees’ Week celebrates the UK’s 1 million trustees and promotes the benefits of volunteering as a charity trustee. This annual event showcases the great work that trustees do and highlights opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.

Donald Forrester, Chief Executive of Emmaus Leeds, said: “This is a great time to join our charity as we are well-established, have a passionate and dedicated staff team, and have some exciting plans for the future. We are appealing for committed individuals to join our board of trustees who want to make a difference helping to reduce homelessness in Leeds.”
