A massive thank you to these wonderful volunteers from healthcare company, Johnson & Johnson, who came to help out at our home from homelessness in Preston.

Clinical specialist Alex Riley from J&J and her amazing team did such fantastic jobs – painting rooms and transforming the gardens at our accommodation building off Ribbleton Lane.

Our volunteers met with some of the people supported by Emmaus Preston as well as our Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Support, Karen.

Karen said: “All of the volunteers were so lovely. They were really interested in people’s stories and hearing more about Emmaus and what we do.

“One of the companions told them all about his story while they were helping out in the garden. Everyone was really understanding. We really appreciated all their hard work. The team really got stuck in to everything they were asked to do.”

Alex from Johnson & Johnson said: “We had an amazing and humbling day working with Emmaus Preston helping with gardening work and decorating some of the indoor spaces.

“Hearing the compelling stories from some of the residents was inspiring and it was amazing to hear their praise and gratitude to the team who work so hard at Emmaus.

“We would like to give a special shout out to Karen, who is truly dedicated to her work in providing safe accommodation for vulnerable people who have had unimaginable experiences being homeless.

“It is a brilliant charity helping people re integrate into society, housing, work and routine at their own pace in a community of like-minded individuals with shared experiences.

“We would urge anyone with spare time to please get involved and support your local Emmaus charity. Thank you for having us.”

Thank you to everyone at Johnson & Johnson for coming along to help out!
