Emmaus Lambeth offers up to 27 formerly homeless people a home, work and the chance to rebuild their lives in a supportive environment.
Emmaus Lambeth is one of 29 Emmaus communities spanning the UK. Across the UK Emmaus supports more than 750 previously homeless people, with plans to expand by 2020.
At Emmaus Lambeth we offer 27 formerly homeless people support to get back on their feet. Our residents, who are known as ‘companions’, receive not just a bed, but full time work within the community. Companions can stay for as long as they need, and when they are ready to move on they will receive assistance and guidance to help find accommodation and work. Each companion will receive an en-suite room, food and an allowance when staying with us. At Emmaus Lambeth we provide the tools to allow those in need to regain control of their lives.
The money generated from our shops all goes into the upkeep of our community, the support of our companions and the running of the charity. Each Emmaus Community is self-sufficient and do not rely on state funding. Our shops provide our companions with voluntary work, to help gain vital experience to get back on their feet. All of the goods for sale are donated by the general public, which includes everything from furniture to electricals, clothes and bric-a-brac. Who knows what you might find!
We offer companions a place to stay for as long as they need. The support given by our community offers our companions a fresh start, to move on from homelessness.
Support the work of Emmaus Lambeth by popping in to one of our shops! We accept a variety of donations and can also arrange a home pick-up for any large goods. You can also support us by making a monetary donation here.
If you or someone you know is homeless please find out more about joining our community here.
