Regional Communications Officer (maternity cover)

London and South East of England

The Regional Communications Officer role is an exciting, varied position working with Emmaus communities in London and the South East of England to help increase their profile locally and nationally.

Like many charities, the coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on Emmaus. Our charity shops have now reopened, but it will take time to rebuild our social enterprises to full capacity. Good communication with our customers will be a big part of getting our social enterprises back on track. You will work closely with Emmaus communities to identify their communications needs and find creative ways to meet them. As part of a wider team, you will also share ideas with your colleagues and draw on one another’s experiences to maximise PR and communications opportunities nationally.

The role is part-time (26.25 hours per week – hours and days to be agreed) and home based, although regular travel will be required once we consider it safe to do so. Communities supported will include Brighton, Hastings, Dover and Greenwich (subject to change) and travel to our office in Birmingham or other locations may be required on occasion.

Who are we looking for?

Your will support Emmaus communities with communications activities that help them to achieve their ambitions. This is a varied and busy role, and we guarantee no two days will be the same. Depending on what each community needs, your week could include planning and delivering social media campaigns, designing marketing materials, coordinating media opportunities, interviewing the people supported by the charity and much more. This means excellent planning and organising skills are key. You will have strong skills in communications, PR or marketing with at least two years’ experience of working in a busy communications role. Although not essential, knowledge and understanding of the charity sector would also be an advantage.

If you have great communication skills, plenty of creative ideas, a positive “can do” attitude and a passion for what you do, we want to hear from you.
