A new partnership between local charities Emmaus Hull & East Riding and Tigers Trust is harnessing the power of personal growth to help people progress after homelessness.
Eight people supported by Emmaus Hull & East Riding have recently completed the Tigers Pathways programme. Four of which progressed into employment or education. This six-week programme supports people with their personal development, helping them set and work towards life goals with clear, achievable steps.
Sean, one of the Emmaus residents who took part, said: “The programme was an inspirational and thought-provoking journey, which gave me the space to reflect on what I want to achieve in life, while also offering fun, new adventures and unforgettable memories.”
Emmaus Hull & East Riding provides a home, tailored support, training and work opportunities for people who have experienced homelessness. Our residential community in Hull provides a home and support for up to 30 people at any one time.
Emmaus resident Eddie added: “The Tigers Trust programme has given me a real boost in confidence, and I’ve enjoyed the experience so much that I’m hoping to return as a volunteer.”
Tigers Trust is an independent charity connected to Hull City Football Club, supported by the Premier League and the English Football League Trust. Their mission is to make a positive difference in people’s lives by providing opportunities that build confidence, improve wellbeing, and help individuals overcome barriers.
Amy Blinkhorn, Adult Engagement Manager at Tigers Trust, said: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Emmaus Hull & East Riding to welcome their residents onto our Tigers Pathways programme. Their mission aligns perfectly with our values of community, growth, and inclusion, making this partnership especially meaningful.”
After completing the programme, two of the group applied for jobs and attended interviews, with one being offered the role. Other positive outcomes for all Emmaus participants include improved health, mental wellbeing and confidence, together with a newfound enthusiasm for the sport.
Amy added: “We’re incredibly proud of everything the group has accomplished – building confidence, developing professional skills, and taking steps toward a brighter, more independent future. We look forward to seeing how they continue to grow and succeed beyond this programme.”
