Emmaus Hull & East Riding is using Trustees’ Week (4 – 8 November 2024) to thank current trustees and appeal for new trustees to join our charity.

Emmaus Hull & East Riding provides a home, tailored support, training and work opportunities to people who have experienced homelessness. We are appealing for new people to give their time and expertise as trustees, joining the current team of seven who sit on our board of trustees.

Chris O’Donnell, Chair of Emmaus Hull & East Riding, said: “To ensure the future development and success of Emmaus Hull & East Riding, we are searching for new trustees to join our board, particularly those with managerial, financial, marketing or retail experience and expertise.

“The role of trustee carries duties and responsibilities but the opportunities for personal growth, alongside the satisfaction of helping people better their lives, makes it wholly rewarding and fulfilling in many different ways.

“Emmaus Hull & East Riding has made a big impact on the lives of people who experience homelessness since we opened in 2016. The support and dedication of our trustees, past and present, has been pivotal to achieving this impact, for which we are all deeply grateful.”

Make a positive impact as a trustee

Trustees’ Week is a national campaign to celebrate the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK. Trustees are the individuals who make decisions on behalf of the charity and have general control and management of the administration of a charity.

Trustees at Emmaus Hull & East Riding give their time voluntarily and work together to ensure our charity has a clear strategy, aligned with our goals and vision. Our charity provides a range of services that contribute to our mission of supporting people who experience homelessness and social exclusion.

People supported by Emmaus, known as companions, live within a purpose-built community home in Hull and are offered the opportunity to gain skills, training, confidence and new experiences. More than two-thirds of the companions we support move on into jobs, their own housing or return to families.
