Helping people to progress after homelessness and supporting those who are currently homeless is the primary focus of everyone involved in Emmaus Hull & East Riding. Powered by our local supporters, volunteers, donors, businesses and partner organisations, we achieve this in two ways; via The Orchard (our residential community in Hull) and through our Outreach service.

In 2024, Emmaus Hull & East Riding supported 134 people on their journeys away from homelessness. This includes 54 people who were provided with a warm and stable home, their own bedroom, food and tailored support at The Orchard. A further 80 individuals received support from our dedicated Outreach team who cover the whole of the East Riding.

Our team has helped 42 people move-on into their own accommodation and supported them throughout that process. We have also supported 10 people into employment, securing jobs that will help them to sustain their lives after homelessness. This year, Emmaus Hull & East Riding staff have delivered over 4,000 hours of support conversations, helping people to develop their plans for the future and achieve their goals.

Steps to a better future

Our support team helped 54 people to register with a GP and open their own bank accounts. 20 people received funding towards training and wellbeing activities and a total of 272 online and in-person training courses were completed by people supported by Emmaus Hull & East Riding. As a team, we are incredibly proud of each and every one of the individuals who have completed training, taking positive action to build their knowledge and skills for the future.

Thank you to all of our friends, supporters and partners for helping us give hope and fresh opportunities to the people we support. As a charity, we could not achieve all we do without the kind and continued support that we receive.

A final thank you and very well done to all Emmaus Hull & East Riding companions, volunteers, trustees and staff. Working together, we have achieved so much and I am already looking forward to building on our shared success in 2025.
