Emmaus Hertfordshire not only provides formerly homeless people with a stable home and meaningful work in our community and shops, we also sell excellent quality, donated furniture and other household items.
To achieve this, Emmaus relies upon a network of volunteers to help us, and the companions (our residents) keep everything running smoothly. We are a multi-site organisation, that has a variety of different volunteering roles to suit all.
We are currently looking for a till and customer service volunteer in our Hertford store, Foxholes Farm, London Road, SG13 7NT.
Supporting shop manager and other volunteers in operating till, helping customers, answering phone calls, booking in deliveries and collections. Training will be given where needed. Cash handling may be involved after training period.
Minimum days / hours required:
1 morning/afternoon per week
5 days per week
Full training is provided for all volunteer roles, and no role requires lone working. Working as part of a multi-skilled team, we feel, makes our volunteering roles more enjoyable and fulfilling to our volunteers. Our Emmaus volunteers work alongside formerly homeless individuals, who are working hard to get their lives back on track and achieve their goals, and therefore we do require all volunteers to complete DBS checks. Volunteers do receive 20% discount in our stores and are invited to events and activities provided by the charity.
