We were delighted and honoured that Dilly Carter of BBC One’s Sort Your Life Out described our Tring store as “one of my favourites” on ITV’s Lorraine show.
Mega popular TV and social media personality, Dilly, visited our Nineteen 49 store in Tring High Street for a segment on ‘How to Second-Hand Shop’, which was aired on Lorraine on Tuesday 9 April.
Dilly browsed our many items on display, as well as trying on a few pieces and giving her top tips on looking stylish for less. She was assisted by shop manager Emily and companion Adie who were delighted to welcome her and the crew for the filming.
Dilly, a professional organiser, founder of Declutter Dollies and author, advised viewers to regularly pop into their local charity shops to catch bargains before they disappear, as well as to visit during less busy weekdays and make a difference by volunteering.
Revealing her top second-hand shopping tips to viewers, she said: “I’m in my happy place, a charity shop, and this one is one of my favourites called Emmaus in Tring.
“There is nothing I love more than a good rummage around, but there is a skill in grabbing yourself a bargain and saving yourself a few quid.”
Encouraging people to get involved by volunteering, she said: “Why not volunteer at your local charity shop? Not only are you helping a good cause, but you get first dibs on all the stuff that comes in!”
If you’d like to volunteer at any of our shops, we’d love to hear from you, especially for our new Letchworth shop opening soon. For more details, visit: https://emmaus.org.uk/hertfordshire/support-us/volunteer/
