Our Tring store, Nineteen 49, featured in the latest episode of BBC TWO paranormal investigation show Uncanny, which aired on Friday (7 February) .
Hosted by Danny Robins, whose catchphrase is “Are you a team believer or team sceptic”, the programme investigates accounts of paranormal experiences submitted by viewers.
In the episode titled, ‘Charity Shop Poltergeist’, Danny and his team of experts delve into an account of a woman who believes the charity shop she worked in was haunted. Our customers need not be concerned however, as our Tring shop is not the one affected; the production team only used our shop as a set for the episode.
Emmaus Tring shop manager, Emily said: “The BBC needed to film in a charity shop for the show and approached us last month to see if this was possible. We were delighted to help, and the crew came over and filmed one Saturday night (January 18), so it was a fun day for me!
“Danny the presenter interviews a woman that worked in a charity shop that she said was haunted by a poltergeist. I don’t think they were able to film in the actual shop so needed a substitute, which is where we stepped in. I’d like to reassure our customers that our shop isn’t haunted and it’s very safe to enter! We do have items flying off the shelves, but only in a good way!”
Emily added: “It was great to be involved in the filming shoot and to meet Danny and the team, who were lovely. I think it helps that we have some creepy looking mannequins in the shop! Can’t wait to watch the episode tomorrow.”
Our Tring shop specialises in vintage and antique homeware, furniture and fashion. The social enterprise is one of four shops supporting our charity helping people get back on their feet.
Now in its second series, the BBC TWO show followed on from Danny’s hit podcast series of the same name, which attracted a huge following. The programme featuring our Tring shop was the second episode of Uncanny Series 2.
