Emmaus Hertfordshire is delighted to announce the appointment of Duncan Lewis as our new Chief Executive.

Duncan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. After starting his career in travel, financial services and commercial property, he moved into the not-for-profit sector working for organisations including Commonwealth Games England, Age UK and the Lord’s Taverners.

As well as a home for as long as it is needed, Emmaus Hertfordshire provides training, support and meaningful work opportunities in our social enterprises. These include our charity shops in St Albans, Tring and Hemel Hempstead and a successful house clearance service. Everyone supported at Emmaus Hertfordshire volunteers in the social enterprises, and all of the money generated from these social enterprises funds the work of the charity.

Duncan will be overseeing the current operations while also looking to increase the support the we provide to those who are homeless or have experienced homelessness. This includes expanding the current social enterprise businesses by opening new shops and increasing online sales and looking at ways the charity can work more closely with other local organisations.

Talking about his appointment to the team at Emmaus Hertfordshire, Duncan says:

“I’m really excited to be joining Emmaus Hertfordshire and do so at an important time for the charity. The last 18 months have been incredibly difficult for the charity sector, but the team here have done a great job of steadying the ship. We are now ready to move forward and expand the services we offer to those who have experienced homelessness here in Hertfordshire, and increasing our support to the wider community.”
