We were delighted to receive a donation of £50,000 from international fragrance company, CPL Aromas, to fund a brand-new role.

Thanks to the generous funding, we have welcomed new Community Support Manager, Harley Scott, who is leading the team providing specialist tailored support to people who have experienced homelessness, known to us as companions. Harley will support companions who have complex needs, such as addiction and trauma.

The Bishop’s Stortford-based fragrance house also donated a further £50,000 to Emmaus UK, to support national initiatives – doubling its support to our charity in less than a year.

We provide people who have experienced homelessness with a home, tailored support, companionship and work opportunities. Our companions gain skills and confidence within our four charity shops, workshop and house clearance social enterprise, while receiving tailored support.

Duncan Lewis, our Chief Executive, said:

“A massive thank you to CPL Aromas for their ongoing support which has been incredible and is enabling us to provide much-needed additional resources to our support team.

“It is allowing them to focus on creating and running personal development and wellbeing activities, maintaining and improving on our referral process, and providing valuable support with age-related care needs and asylum seeker status.”

The Emmaus Hertfordshire community is now full to capacity, with 36 people who have previously experienced homelessness now in a stable home and receiving the vital support they need.

Charlotte Talbott, Chief Executive of Emmaus UK, said:

“This second donation from CPL Aromas is hugely appreciated, as it will allow both Emmaus UK and the federation to develop key projects where we have identified a real need.

“We will be able to provide more specialist support, better opportunities, and more positive outcomes for companions. We’re extremely grateful for their ongoing support.”

In September 2023, CPL Aromas donated £25,000 to both Emmaus UK and Emmaus Hertfordshire. We used our donation to recruit a new Development and Wellbeing Support Worker, providing companions with personal development and training.

CPL Aroma’s funding will also support Emmaus UK’s Positive Approaches programme which is being rolled out in partnership with Homeless Link across the federation of more than 30 communities. After a successful trial period, the programme will provide communities with toolkits and training sessions to support their work on ending homelessness.
