CLOSING DATE: Ongoing LOCATION: Letchworth Garden City TYPE: Fixed Term - One year

Develop and lead a team of Companions and volunteers to successfully deliver social enterprise trading activities in a new site in Letchworth Garden City.

Do you want a role that puts you at the heart of your local community?

Do you want the opportunity to have full control of the creative proposition of your stores visual merchandising?

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness and social isolation?

We have a unique opportunity for you to do just that.

Emmaus Hertfordshire is a homelessness charity with a difference. We don’t just offer people a bed for the night. We provide a home for as long as it’s needed, meaningful work and a sense of belonging. We’re looking for an enthusiastic people person to manage a new charity shop in Letchworth Garden City. This is an exciting opportunity to be a driving force in our expansion into North Hertfordshire.

Our Social Enterprises are not only essential in providing the majority of the funding required to run our community – they also provide meaningful work and training for our Companions. You’ll need to have a positive, can-do attitude and an ability to coach others with compassion and empathy. You’ll have full ownership of delivering success in a new store, with an opportunity to really make this role your own.

To our Store Managers, there is no such thing as a typical day. Your role will be varied and challenge you, but it will in turn be stimulating, exciting and truly satisfying. You will develop and encourage your team to deliver a visually exciting store that attracts both customers and donors through the doors. You will also play a key role in advocating for Emmaus and educating your local community about our work.

About you:

  • You are a naturally energetic person with enthusiasm for managing and empowering people.
  • You have a true love for retail and delivering visually exciting, commercially successful stores that exceed customer expectations
  • You know how to recruit and develop a team of volunteers
  • Above all, you are keen to take on a new challenge and passionate about the work of Emmaus.

We are facing diverse problems and need diverse people to tackle them. As an equal opportunities employer, we are committed to diversity and inclusion and as such are keen to receive applications from all backgrounds.
