Emmaus Hertfordshire has been based at its site in St Albans for over 20 years and we have grown considerably since the day we moved in! Over the past few years, we have been making improvements to our premises as we build the charity and social enterprises which support our work.  Our next phase of redevelopment is to develop our ‘back yard’ and we are looking for groups, charities and social enterprises that may want to partner with us. Could this be you?

Our large back yard at St Albans site is currently where we park our vans, process our recycling and sort all the items that are collected through our collection and house clearance services.  We have now reached a point where this space doesn’t work well for our companions, staff and volunteers. Amongst our ideas to maximise its potential we are about to embark on an exciting redevelopment which could see us create a new recycling area, increase our warehouse and storage and develop a purpose-built electrical repair & testing unit. We may even have space to offer small workshops or warehouse space for local artisans.

We are about to go into the consultation phase of our project and are looking for any local charities, social enterprises, not-for-profit groups, and entrepreneurs who may be looking for a small, accessible space in St Albans to run their projects.

There are many reasons why this space could be attractive to the right organisation:

  • Located on the outskirts of St Albans
  • Plenty of free parking onsite
  • An established customer footfall (that currently visit our second-hand furniture store)
  • The potential for Emmaus to share resources such as volunteers, customers, furniture, products for recycling/upcycling with those that rent the space
  • A competitive rate

We are very much in the planning stage and will soon be launching our fundraising appeals so this is may be a long-term process, but we would love to be able to involve other organisations as we start to develop our ideas.  Many trusts and foundations like to see organisations working together and we firmly believe in the strength of real partnerships.

If you think our project may be of interest to you or your organisation, please email [email protected] for more information or to register your details for a consultation meeting we plan to hold later this year/early 2021.
