Sallie, Tony, Darren, Thomas, Martin, Paul, Bongo and Alistair have banded together as Team Emmaus to take part in “Out of the Blue”, a 5k race which will take place in Battle on the 12 May. Team Emmaus is raising funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably, or CALM, a cause very close to the hearts of all in the community. The charity works to prevent male suicide in the UK, which is the biggest cause of death in men aged 20-45 and is one of three charities that benefit from the annual Out of the Blue 5k.

Team Emmaus have already raised £150, and hope to collect much more in support of this great cause.

Tony, one of the companions who will be running the race, said:

“We are looking forward to the 5k race and have been upping our training over the past few weeks. Most of us are not normally runners but we are so inspired by the cause and feel it is important to support it, so we have taken on the challenge. We hope we can help raise awareness for such an important cause that will benefit from this.”

Supporting other organisations and causes, which we call solidarity, is a key part of the work we do at Emmaus Hastings & Rother. If you would like to support Team Emmaus  you can do so by dropping in a cheque or cash donation into our shop, or by donating online here.

We want to wish Team Emmaus the best of luck with their challenge, and can’t wait to see how they do on the day!
