Emmaus Hastings & Rother has just finished renovating accommodation for our companions, the name given to the people who live and work at our social enterprise.

Emmaus Hastings & Rother is home to up to 23 people who have experienced or been at risk of homelessness. The accommodation is on site near to the second-hand shop, and as well as a communal dining area and living room, each person has their own bedroom and bathroom. During the high winds in January, the accommodation suffered some minor damage which has quickly been repaired. The rooms have all received new carpets and furniture, and have been repainted.

Zach, the Community Manager at Emmaus Hastings & Rother said “the refurbished rooms are really cosy and welcoming spaces, which we hope each of our companions will love living in. It’s really important to us at our community is a home, and the companions are allowed to decorate their rooms however they like. As and when they feel ready to move on, they can take their furniture with them, to help them set up in a new home. We’re really pleased with the refurbished rooms.”
