Do you have skills in woodwork, furniture restoration or upcycling? Are you experienced in using hand tools, powered tools and basic workshop equipment? We’re looking for a Wood Workshop Volunteer to help repair, restore and upcycle furniture to be sold in our Emmaus Hampshire charity stores. If you have time to spare, skills to give and want to support a local homelessness charity, then we want to hear from you.
Main duties
- Furniture repair and restoration
- Repair of household furniture
- Sanding, varnishing and finishing of household furniture
- Upcycling and creation of small wood products
- Help train wood working skills and develop people within the workshop
- Promote Emmaus Hampshire and Emmaus values.
Skills and experience needed
- Furniture-making or restoration skills
- Wood workshop experience
- Light furniture restoration experience is desirable
- Wood upcycling experience is desirable
- An ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures
- Respect for Emmaus values and our policies
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive, can-do attitude.
Time commitment
We are looking for new volunteers who can commit between four and eight hours per week (9am-5pm).
