Are you looking for volunteering opportunities in Hampshire? Do you have an interest in charity shops, fashion, antiques, sustainability, social media, upcycling, woodwork or being busy as part of a team?
Get involved as a volunteer at Emmaus Hampshire to put your time and talents to good use. Develop your skills and experience, get creative, be more active, meet new people and be part of an inspiring community.
Emmaus Hampshire is a vibrant and thriving charity that supports people who have experienced homelessness. From our large community home in Winchester, we provide up to 40 people with a home, individual support, training and work experience. The majority of the funds we need to sustain our community are raised through our social enterprise and charity shops in Winchester, Southampton and Eastleigh.
Local volunteers provide help and support in various areas of our community and social enterprise operations. Working together alongside our companions – residents of Emmaus – volunteers play a vital role in the life of our charity and the people we support.
Many of our volunteer roles are based within our Winchester community home and Superstore. From helping out in our store and workshops, to helping our charity shine online, we have a variety of roles for different ages, skills, interests and abilities.
If you’re local to Winchester and keen to support a unique homelessness charity, find out more about our current roles. We also have rewarding volunteer opportunities in Southampton and Eastleigh too.
Volunteering with Emmaus Hampshire is your opportunity to give back and support people who have experienced homelessness.
When you join as an Emmaus volunteer, you will be given an induction when you start and a member of staff will support you throughout your time as a volunteer. As well as being an opportunity to develop your skills and experience for a worthwhile cause, volunteering with Emmaus will allow you to meet new people from a variety of backgrounds.
All Emmaus Hampshire volunteers are offered travel expenses and lunch on the days that they volunteer. We also offer further e-learning, training and development opportunities for volunteers keen to build their knowledge and skills.
To find out more, please email Ian, our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected] to arrange a friendly chat about the roles on offer.
Sally, Emmaus volunteer“I worked for fifty-four years as a nurse so helping people became a way of life. Kindness is free, it costs you nothing, and the rewards are great for everyone.”
Andre, Emmaus volunteer“I chose to be a volunteer at Emmaus because the organisation had a remit, not just to give immediate help to those who found themselves homeless, but more importantly to me, got them back on their feet…”
Jan, Emmaus volunteer“I volunteer for Emmaus because it is such a worthwhile cause and does brilliant work for the issue of homelessness, which is a shameful situation in this country.”
Miranda, Emmaus volunteer“I feel very passionate about the charity, and think it’s important we give back if we can. I love to bake and it’s something I can do in my own time, as I still work.”
