Companions, staff, trustees, and supporters came together on December 10th for Emmaus Hampshire’s annual celebration, an evening highlighting achievements, recognising contributions, and strengthening the charity’s sense of community.
Guests began the evening with a visit to the newly opened Wellbeing Centre, a calm space designed for counselling and small-group sessions. The centre, featuring a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom, provides companions with a sanctuary to reflect, reconnect, and focus on their personal growth.
The evening’s presentation, delivered by CEO Nigel celebrated a year of milestones, including record numbers of companions moving into independent living, successes in retail initiatives, and the dedication of staff and volunteers who keep the charity running.
A highlight of the evening was the Companion Awards, recognising residents for their hard work, positive attitude, and contributions to the community:
Special Contribution Award: Nathan, for stepping up to support the community during staff shortages.
Player of the Year: Tony, recognised for his positive attitude and willingness to help others.
Unsung Hero Award: David, for his quiet diligence and consistently high standards.
Tess Til Award: Darius, Des and Warren won this prestigious award meaning they will gain an international experience and learn about Emmaus France during a trip to Normandy next year.
These awards celebrated the resilience, talent, and personal growth of companions, highlighting the transformative impact of Emmaus Hampshire’s supportive environment.

The celebration concluded with a buffet prepared by Emmaus Hampshire’s own companion chefs, giving attendees the chance to enjoy a meal crafted by residents and to connect in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
“Events like this remind us why we do what we do,” said a trustee. “It’s about the people — our companions, staff, volunteers, and supporters — and the strength of our community.”
The annual celebration not only honoured achievements from the past year but also reinforced the charity’s commitment to providing opportunities, support, and a sense of belonging for all members of the Emmaus Hampshire community.
