Our diverse team embodies the Emmaus ethos, giving hope and a sense of belonging to people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. As well as tailored support delivered by our staff team, we promote peer-to-peer support, encouraging everyone to look out for each other. Every day, our team members are focussed on working together to end homelessness for our companions and delivering positive environmental, sustainable and social impact across Hampshire.
Emmaus Hampshire is a registered charity (no. 1077264) and registered company (no. 3783294). Legal and financial responsibility for the proper conduct of our charity’s affairs rests with our trustees, who must report annually to the Charity Commission and to Companies House. Each member of our Board of Trustees brings with them skills, experience and expertise to help with strategic planning and governance.
After moving to Winchester, Alison worked at the Trinity Day Centre and became very aware of the issue of homelessness locally. Learning of the national and international Emmaus movement, she dedicated herself to the creation of a local Emmaus community. From 2001, Alison was Chair of Emmaus Hampshire, overseeing the team that worked towards this goal. The community opened in 2009 and Alison remained Chair of Trustees until 2013. On stepping down as Chair, fellow trustees appointed her the role of Honorary President, a position she treasures to this day.
