Street Souls is a solidarity outreach project which provides hot and cold food, warm clothing, toiletries and sleeping bags, WiFi and device charging in a warm space, as well as advice and support for people in Greenwich.

Main duties:

  • 💚 Setting up and closing down of each session
  • 💚 Serving our visitors various food and drinks
  • 💚 Handling out donations, such as toiletries, clothing and sleeping bags
  • 💚 Helping our visitors engage in free weekly activities, if relevant
  • 💚 Talking to our visitors about Emmaus Greenwich and Street Souls
  • 💚 Signposting our visitors to local organisations and useful services

Skills and experience needed:

  • ⭐ Great communication and people skills
  • ⭐ Team workers
  • ⭐ Patience and kindness towards our visitors and companions
  • ⭐ Highly motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive, can do attitude

Time Commitment

⏰ We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least two evenings each month for at least six months. Our Street Souls solidarity points operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays each week. For locations and hours, please visit Emmaus Greenwich Street Souls Outreach page here.

Training, support and benefits:

  • Experience of volunteering for a homelessness organisation, supporting our goals to help people overcome homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.
  • As an Emmaus Greenwich volunteer you will be given a full induction when you start and receive ongoing support and supervision from a designated member of staff.
  • Where practical we will offer you an opportunity to develop your skills and look to provide further training.
