Using our free collection service, actress Tamzin Outhwaite has donated all of her unwanted electrical items for us to sell in our shops.
Companion Jason, 50, helped to collect two flat-screen TVs, a vacuum cleaner and coffee maker from the soap star’s London home. He said: “It was great to meet Tamzin and help her with the donation. When customers donate electrical items to us, we’ll take them into our workshop for refurbishing and PAT testing to make sure they’re safe before selling them in our shops. The best bit for me is seeing happy customers buying things that we’ve brought back to life.”
Nicky Martin, Chief Executive of Emmaus Greenwich, added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Tamzin for thinking of us for this donation. Our collection service is a great way to put unwanted electricals, pre-loved furniture and other household items to good use. It doesn’t cost a penny, it’s convenient, and it comes with the feel-good factor of being able to help a local charity.”
The donation was coordinated by new not-for-profit organisation Material Focus, as part of its Recycle Your Electricals campaign. Scott Butler, Executive Director of Material Focus, sheds light on the project: “Discarded electrical items are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK – and in the world. We have launched the Recycle Your Electricals campaign with the aim of transforming what we do with our old electricals, by revealing their hidden value and making it easier for us all to recycle and reuse the electricals we no longer need.”
