This Volunteers Week we say a big thank you to our vital volunteers
Running between 1-7 June, Volunteers' Week celebrates the contribution made by the millions of volunteers across the UK.
Emmaus Greenwich provides a home and meaningful work for 33 people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. The charity’s volunteers assist in a variety of roles in Emmaus’s high street shops serving customers and sorting donations – with all proceeds supporting the local charity’s work.
Robbie Mehtab, a volunteer at Emmaus Greenwich in their Welling shop, has been giving up her time since August 2015. She says:
"I am very happy dedicating my time to this charity and its cause. It is very rewarding working alongside the companions at the Welling shop, meeting different people and making new friends. ”
Tony Bradbury, Chief Executive at Emmaus Greenwich said:
“We are truly grateful for all of our volunteers for bringing their skills and devoting their time to our charity. We have a wonderful group of people who become part of the Emmaus family and who are instrumental in the development of the business and companions.
"We'd like to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who contributes to the vital work we do at Emmaus. During Volunteers' Week, we'd also like to encourage anyone considering volunteering to get in touch and find out more. Volunteering is a good way to meet new people. No previous experience is needed and it’s also a great way to pick up new skills, whether you’re just starting out in work, looking for a new challenge or taking your career in a new direction. All that’s required is a smile and willingness to roll up your sleeves to help us out.”
