Solidarity, helping others less fortunate than yourself, is central to the Emmaus way of life. Everyone at Emmaus, including companions, staff, trustees and volunteers is encouraged to carry out acts of solidarity to support people who need it most.  For companions in particular, this has a huge impact on their confidence and self-worth, showing them that they can make a difference to someone else’s life and add value to the lives of people around them. The Street Souls solidarity outreach project operates in London on two evenings a month (with the aim to increase the service to weekly in the future), providing hot and cold meals, warm clothing, essentials items such as toiletries/sleeping bags, advice and support for London’s homeless.

Overall purpose of the job

  • Running the Street Souls solidarity outreach project.  Ensuring the project is compliant with relevant H&S legislation, comprehensive records are kept, and budgets are adhered to.
  • Undertaking outreach work to increase Emmaus Greenwich’s profile in the community.  Establishing links with relevant agencies and organisations to increase the flow of Companions into the Emmaus Greenwich Community
