We’re set to reopen our doors after a 15-week closure due to the Covid-19 shutdown and we’re preparing to welcome customers back to our shops in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Nailsworth and Stroud from Monday 12 April.
Around 80 per cent of our charity’s income comes from the sale of donated items and house clearances. For every week closed during lockdown, we have been losing vital income that is used to provide accommodation, food, and support to help people rebuild their lives after being homeless.
As well as providing valuable funds for the charity, our shops provide work experience, training, and a sense of purpose for the people we support and are key in helping people regain their confidence and self-esteem.
Joe Feeley, Chief Executive at Emmaus Gloucestershire, said:
“We are delighted to be reopening our shops and welcoming back our supporters. Our shops are a fantastic resource for anyone in need of quality affordable items, anyone wanting to embark on an upcycling project or looking for quirky, vintage, and retro items, or for anyone who wants to shop responsibly, buy second-hand, and look after our environment.
“We have followed advice from the Government and Charity Retail Association to implement measures to keep everyone safe. These include limiting the number of customers at any one time, installing markings and signs throughout our shops and hand sanitiser stations at all entrance doors.”
Our shops stock a wide-range of good quality pre-loved and vintage items, including furniture, homeware, books, clothing, and accessories.
We will be accepting donations of good quality items at all of its shops during opening hours from 9:30am until the daily capacity is reached and is advising customers to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Large donations must be pre-booked in advance by calling each specific shop.

Opening hours for the Gloucester and Nailsworth Emmaus shops are Monday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm. Our Stroud and Cheltenham shops are open Tuesday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm.
