We’re appealing for volunteers to get involved with Emmaus Gloucestershire and help drive our charity forward.

We formerly homeless people by providing a home, meaningful work, and support for as long as they need it. Volunteers are currently needed to help in our Gloucester and Stroud shops.

There are a variety of roles on offer and we’re appealing for volunteers to help with shop and till support, stock sorting, online sales, van driving, and the testing of electrical items. We can accommodate as many days or hours that people have spare, however asks that volunteers are consistent and reliable.

Joe Feeley, Chief Executive at Emmaus Gloucestershire, said:

“We’re looking for people who want to use their time, skills and passion to drive our charity forward and make a real difference to the lives of people who have been homeless. Volunteering with us is a great way to meet new people, get involved with the local community, and learn new skills. No two days at Emmaus Gloucestershire are the same and we can promise a fun and rewarding volunteer experience.”

Our social enterprise consists of four second-hand shops in Gloucester, Stroud, and Nailsworth selling furniture, household goods, clothing, toys, books, electrical items, and bric-a-brac. All proceeds from the sale of donated items goes directly back into the charity and helps to support people out of homelessness.

Andrew, a volunteer at Emmaus Gloucestershire who joined the us as a work experience student and has continued as a volunteer for the past 15 years, said:

“My favourite thing about volunteering at Emmaus is the people. I came as a work experience student from a local college and when I finished my four-year course I stayed on as a volunteer because I loved it so much. I have learnt a lot over the past 15 years like till work and customer service and my advice to others thinking about volunteering is to go for it. If you’ve got the time and want to learn something new, meet new people, and be part of a friendly team, then Emmaus Gloucestershire is the place for you.”
