Emmaus supports people to work their way out of homelessness.
Emmaus provides a home and meaningful work for as long as someone needs it.
You can make a difference, by donating, getting involved or visiting one of our shops.
"I’ve made friends here and like working with the other people in the shop. I quite like it and I’ll carry on volunteering here until I get a job."
I volunteer at Emmaus Gloucestershire every Tuesday and Thursday in the Stroud shop.
I quite like it here and do lots of different things. I started out on the van, helping to load furniture, and learnt a lot. Eventually, I ended up in the shop both days, working hard stocking shelves, helping customers, scanning books and sorting items.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are delivery and collection days, so I also check the sheet to see what’s going out, then find the items with the right ticket numbers so they’re ready for the van team.
My favourite thing about volunteering at Emmaus Gloucestershire is emptying the bins. I do it every time I’m here. I used to work on the bin lorries, emptying bins and collecting rubbish so I really enjoy doing it at Emmaus Gloucestershire.
