We are delighted to announce that Coventry Building Society’s Gloucester branch has selected Emmaus Gloucestershire as its Charity of the Year, kicking off a partnership aimed at supporting people who are rebuilding their lives after homelessness.
The collaboration will see the local Coventry Building Society branch raise funds through raffles, donations, grants, and other events throughout the year, with all proceeds going directly to our work to support people out of homelessness.
We take a unique approach to tackling homelessness by not only providing people with a safe place to live for as long as it is needed, but also offering meaningful work experience through our social enterprises, funded training and tailored support plans.
Commenting on the new partnership our Operations Manager Lorraine Watson, said:
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Coventry Building Society’s Gloucester branch and excited about what this collaboration will bring. Their commitment means a great deal to us, and we look forward to working together to make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.”
Coventry Building Society is one of the largest building societies in the UK, with a long-standing commitment to supporting communities through its corporate social responsibility initiatives. To mark the beginning of the partnership, a team from Coventry Building Society’s Gloucester branch visited Emmaus Gloucestershire to see how our charity operates and the impact their fundraising efforts will have.
Following the visit, the branch invited Lorraine and companions Martin and Sara for an awareness raising day. They spoke with customers about our work and explained how funds raised through the partnership will be used to help people who have experienced homelessness.
Commenting on selecting Emmaus Gloucestershire as Charity of the Year, Matthew Payne, Service Manager at the Gloucester Coventry Building Society branch, said:
“The partnership fits great with our values, goals and what we want to achieve. We recognise the important work Emmaus Gloucestershire does in the local community, and we really want to support that work. We thoroughly enjoyed having Martin and Sara in our branch, learning about their personal stories and the difference Emmaus Gloucestershire makes to them.”
