This Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) we are celebrating the hard work of all our volunteers and are calling on more people to come forward and join our team.

Emmaus Glasgow supports formerly homeless people by providing them with a home, support, training and meaningful work opportunities in a community setting.

Alongside our staff team, Emmaus Glasgow is also supported by eight volunteers who dedicate more than 60 hours per week to supporting the charity. These volunteers support in various roles in our shops, driving our delivery and collection vans and helping to support formerly homeless people who now live and work as part of the Emmaus Glasgow community.

Thanks to our ongoing success, we are now looking to bolster our volunteer team. In particular volunteers are needed to work within our shops in Partick and Hamiltonhill and to drive the Emmaus Glasgow furniture collection van.

Speaking about the call for help, Richard Allwood, CEO at Emmaus Glasgow, said:

“This Volunteers’ Week we’d like to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers. The dedication and commitment showed to our charity by these wonderful people is vital to the work we do – we simply couldn’t do it without them.

“As we grow as a charity, so does our need for volunteers to support our work. We are appealing for more people to join our team to help out in our community and within our social enterprises. If you have time, skills and energy that you would like to put to good use, then please get in touch to find out about the roles available.”

Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate and say thank you for the contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. Volunteers benefit charities and groups across the country, but volunteering has been shown to improve volunteers’ wellbeing too. Volunteering can also help people gain valuable new skills and experiences, and boost confidence.
