Emmaus Glasgow accepts you for who you are. We receive applications from refugees as well as people from the city of Glasgow. Most people stay at Emmaus Glasgow for a few months but some leave sooner and others stay for years – we really are a home for as long as someone needs it.
We know that it takes more than a roof over someone’s head to build back from homelessness. That’s why we provide individualised packages of long-term support to help you follow your interests, develop skills and gain work experience. Unlike homeless hostels, we ask people supported by the charity to contribute to the smooth running of the community.
People help in different roles from assisting in our second-hand shops to cooking for other companions, cleaning, gardening, carrying out maintenance, van driving, or performing charity shop collections and deliveries.
When surveyed, people supported by Emmaus said routine, work opportunities and being part of a team were the most beneficial parts of their time.
This is how Emmaus helps homeless people in Glasgow to build back to more fulfilled lives.
