Today marks World Homeless Day, a moment to reflect on the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and to take meaningful action within our communities.

Recent government figures show that rough sleeping in Kent has risen by 10% over the past year, a stark reminder of why the work we do at Emmaus Dover is more vital than ever.

Since opening our doors in 1995, Emmaus Dover has provided a home, meaningful work, training, and tailored support to 1,739 people who have experienced homelessness, known within Emmaus as companions.

We believe that overcoming homelessness is about more than finding a bed for the night. It’s about helping people rebuild their lives, restore self-worth, and regain independence. To date, we’ve delivered over 200,000 days of accommodation and currently support up to 27 companions through our community and social enterprises in Dover.

💬 Robbie, one of our companions, shared his experience:

“I spent around four months rough sleeping. It was really tough… I like it here at Emmaus Dover, where I can work and gain new skills. Every day is different, and being part of the team helps me feel connected again.”

This World Homeless Day, we invite you to stand with us, to help ensure that more people have the chance to rebuild their lives and find hope again.
