One of our wonderful supporters Maureen has raised a fantastic £400 for Emmaus Dover through a social media birthday fundraiser, in memory of her partner of 12 years, Clive Jones.
Before Clive passed away in October 2020, he spent his time helping local homeless people in whatever way he could, whether it was buying people meals, donating sleeping bags, or simply chatting to them. Clive was a big supporter of Emmaus Dover, as one of his old school friends was a companion (a formerly homeless person now living and working at Emmaus Dover) here.
Maureen said: “Clive never had much in the way of money, but did what he could quietly and without fuss. When he died, I asked that any donations go to Emmaus Dover, as we both thought it was an amazing charity that does such great work with very little.
“For my birthday this year, I opened a Facebook page to raise funds for Emmaus Dover in Clive’s memory, and through the generosity of my friends and family we raised £400. I know this will help to change people’s lives.”
Maureen will be opening up another Facebook fundraiser to celebrate Clive’s birthday this December. In the meantime, if you’d like to help Emmaus Dover continue its work in providing a safe home, meaningful work and training for people who have experienced homelessness, please donate today.
Thank you.
