Why Emmaus is unique
Emmaus Dover is a charity that empowers people to overcome homelessness. We provide the foundation of a home and a life-changing package of tailored support.
We see the person and their strengths, helping them rebuild their lives based on the future they want to create. As part of a nationwide movement of local Emmaus charities, we equip people with valuable skills, training, and work experience to achieve their goals.
No one’s life should be defined by homelessness. In our caring community, we build on everyone’s abilities, increasing confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose. The people we support can make a real contribution to their community.
Emmaus Dover is a vital part of the local area. Our Archcliffe Fort shop offers affordable furniture, household items, clothing, books, toys, and more. By giving new life to pre-loved items, we reduce waste and promote reuse, helping the environment while supporting people on their journey out of homelessness. Within our grounds, we also run a café, community garden, garden centre, and upcycling workshop.
As part of the national and global Emmaus network, we support over 1,000 people each year and work across 40 countries to prevent homelessness for good.
