Trekking for Emmaus
We'd like to say a big thank you to colleagues from Coventry Building Society who recently teamed up to take part in TrekFest – a gruelling 25km hike over the hills of the Peak District - raising over £2,000 for local homelessness charity Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire.
Participating in the sponsored challenge on 2nd September was part of the Coventry’s Risk team’s partnership with our charity. The team work with Emmaus through the Society’s Community Partnership programme, where staff can nominate a local cause to volunteer, raise funds and awareness for the work they do.
Rachel Clarke, Compliance Officer at Coventry Building Society said:
The trek was incredibly difficult and physically demanding but we kept reminding ourselves of the motivation to complete such a task – raising much-needed funds for Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire and the fantastic work they do in the local community. We have raised £2,000 to date and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has sponsored us.”
We’re so impressed by the dedication the staff at Coventry Building Society continue to show in their fundraising for Emmaus. The amount raised for this event is truly impressive and it means a great deal to us. The team may have ended the day with a lot of sore feet, but every kilometre they trekked meant more money was raised, helping to continue our vital work transforming the lives of formerly homeless people.
If there are any other local companies who feel they could pledge some support, big or small, we would very much appreciate it. The problem of homelessness is more pressing than ever, but together, we can continue to change lives for the better.
